About

This Website is a place for me to showcase my work and to connect with others. I also am very interested in the history of basket making and am always interested in meeting other basket makers and learning the methods that have been passed down through the generations.

I have been working with willow and hazel for over 20 years. I also specialize in growing willow sculpture and willow art and in recent years have been doing a lot of work in oaten straw, a material I love to work with.

In 2012 I won an award from the RDS national crafts competition for my Infant Moses Baset done using the Tate and Plait method.

ABOUT ME

I am originally from Clonfert in Co. Galway but have been living in Cloghan, Co. Offaly for the last 30 years. I learned my craft from Joe Hogan, one of the foremost basketmakers in Ireland. Joe works and teaches out of his home in Lough Na Fooey near Clonbur in Connemara.

Since my introduction to basketry I have become immersed in the craft, learning a lot of new skills through some excellent courses, books and through trial and error. I have developed my own style based largely on traditional methods with a strong emphasis on quality and pride in my work.

I am a member of the Irish Basketmakers Association.
